Punjabi Bhangra Giddha Dance Group

Giddha is the popular folk dance of Punjab which is performed only by the ladies. This folk dance is the female counterpart of the Bhangra and has the same tempo of high-spirited revelry. It is performed during wedding, festivals, corporate event or social occasions. Bright clothes, rhythmic clapping, and traditional folk songs blend in to transform the dance into a spontaneous display of joy. Bhangra is said to have started by Punjabi farmers to celebrate the harvest season. As time progressed, the Bhangra became very famous and now used in almost all major celebrations in Punjab such as marriage or festivals. The Bhangra is danced to the rhythm of the Punjabi Dhol. In other words, it refers to the several forms of folk dance and music that originate in the Punjab region of India. Bhangra has a very energetic and lively tone.
